Democracy is complex. It is even difficult and time-consuming. It requires informed involvement, inclusive dialogue, spirited debate, active participation and respect for opposing views. The effort to define and implement solutions to complex contemporary problems is not elegant but it is what makes U.S. democracy so enviable and continues to make the League of Women Voters a valuable resource.
